How does the Regional Therapy process work?

Step 1 - Book a discovery call

The first step is to book a discovery call to see if the services the Regional Therapy team are a good fit for the demographic of your practice. There are many nuances to the way that psychotherapy can be rolled out in a given regional area and so the first step is to understand the specific issues being faced in your practice.

Step 2 - Meet in person or via zoom

If the services we offer are a good fit for your specific practice then we organise a time to either meet in person or via zoom. That way we can take you through our systems and processes in much greater detail and you can place a face to the service.

We also get a feel for how you want to use the service, and importantly how you would like to use the referral service. This may be booking directly in our calendar system, sending a referral via email or perhaps passing our contact number directly to the patient.

Step 3 - We engage with the patient

Our intake team will chat with the patient on the phone to understand their particular needs and we will then recommend a specific therapist that we think they may work well with. Matching a patient to the practitioner is one of the most important parts of the process and allows us to more fully understand the requirements of each patient.

Step 4 - Patient reporting

In some cases the patient may like to have you informed about their progress and the general health markers that we use to assess the ongoing work of the therapy. In these cases we may send you updates or book phone calls to help support the network of support for your patient. This stage of the process is regulated by our duty of care for the client and is on the basis that the patient has granted permission for such communication to take place.

Step 5 - Quarterly assessment of the working relationship

As a key part of the ongoing relationship, one of the Regional Therapy team will check in with you about our work and help to refine and attend to any needs you may have to ensure that the bulk of the work is handled on our side of the fence. Our aim is to ensure that we support medical professionals by reducing their workload rather than adding to it.

Frequently asked questions

  • What are the financial costs of using the Regional Therapy System?

There are no costs for medical professionals to use the service.

  • What reporting system do you use for client note taking?

All of our client notes are taken using a secure system and we adhere to standards required by PACFA.

  • Are there any contracts?

All arrangements are based on a casual agreement whereby the medical professional decides whether they want to refer a specific patient to our service. There are no ongoing requirements for the quantity of patients to be referred or no lock in contracts that require the medical professional to continue to refer to the Regional Therapy team.

  • Once a referral is made whose responsibility is the patient / client?

After a referral is made to the Regional Therapy team, it is the responsibility of the psychotherapist in question to work directly with the patient. All responsibility and liability is held by the practicing psychotherapist according to their nominated association.

  • Are our therapists insured?

All psychotherapists that work with the Regional Therapy team are required to carry profession association membership as well as at least the minimum public liability and professional indemnity insurance as specified by that association.

  • Do you offer in person sessions?

Although the bulk of the sessions are held by telehealth, there may be opportunity to do on the ground work in the form of workshops, lectures and other group sessions. If you are interested in coming and working on the ground with your patients get in touch and we will be able to discuss this further with you.

  • Why psychotherapy and not psychology?

Psychotherapy is often chosen over psychology due to its focus on direct therapeutic interaction. Unlike psychology, which encompasses a broader study of human behavior, psychotherapy provides personalized, hands-on support for individuals facing emotional challenges, offering practical tools and strategies to navigate their specific concerns.
